Ag-Grid Energy is a waste-to-energy developer that builds anaerobic digesters on dairy farms. The company partners with family-owned dairy farms, which share in project profits, and designs, engineers, permits, constructs and operates the facilities. Digesters process cow manure with food waste from nearby producers to generate electricity and renewable natural gas, along with digestate used as fertilizer. The company was founded in 2016 by Rashi Akki, with headquarters in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. Its development partners include engineering, construction, lending and utility firms. In 2024 its sister company Ag-Grid Digital completed a pilot that used dairy biogas electricity to power a 1 MW cryptocurrency mining unit. Current projects are in New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Michigan, California, Pennsylvania and Texas.
