Quadbeam Technologies is a New Zealand manufacturer of multi-beam turbidity and suspended solids sensors and transmitters. The company was formed in the 1990s to continue development of the original four-beam sensors, which were first built for the New Zealand dairy industry by Instrumatics Equipment Ltd for Kiwi Co-op and the New Zealand Dairy Group. Geoff Letcher took over the company in 2009. Its sensors use a ratio-metric multi-beam design that self-compensates for contamination and ageing electronics, and polymer bodies without glass lenses. Sensors are calibrated on-site against lab samples. Dairy applications include milk fat monitoring, CIP control, water-milk interface detection, milk standardisation, separator control, whey fines monitoring, cheese cutting and coagulation, and yogurt manufacture. The company also serves food and beverage, mining, water and wastewater markets. Its stormwater and water-monitoring sensors are sold under the separate Phathom brand. Quadbeam states that its products are manufactured in New Zealand.
