Arsenal do Alfeite, S.A. is a Portuguese public limited company with exclusively public capital, under the supervision of the Ministry of National Defence. It operates a shipyard at the Lisbon Naval Base on the south bank of the Tagus, covering 36 hectares. The company builds, repairs and maintains naval vessels for the Portuguese Navy, other NATO navies and commercial clients. Its work covers steel and aluminium hulls, wooden and composite structures, electronics, optronics, weapons, mechanics and electrical systems. It also maintains naval weapon systems and submarines, including the Albacora class, and provides metrology and calibration services through accredited laboratories. It runs a training academy and is part of the IdD Portugal Defence group.
