BGI is a veteran-owned defense technology organization founded in 1994 by former Air Force pilot Phil Dismukes and headquartered in Akron, Ohio. Founded by aviators to support training device development, it now provides training systems support, instruction and courseware, software engineering, data science, and cybersecurity services. Its work covers aircrew training and simulation for fighter and bomber platforms, including F-16, F-35, B-1 and F/A-18 programmes. BGI operates as a prime contractor, subcontractor or teammate, serving major defense contractors and government customers. Its Advanced Programs work includes data analytics, human performance assessment, digital engineering, modeling, simulation, autonomy and software engineering within a DevSecOps environment. The company reports nearly 400 personnel, many of whom are current or former military, and it runs a dedicated BGI-owned facility in Akron. In March 2026 it announced a realignment into three business segments: Government Services, Training Services and Technical.
