CILAS is a French laser and optronics company founded in 1966, and a historical supplier of laser systems to the armed forces. It designs and manufactures laser systems, laser weapons and optronic solutions, including laser designators, range finders and high-power laser effectors, for the Defence, Security and Space sectors. It also produces optical thin-film coatings, including dielectric, metallic, protective and black coatings for large optics, using magnetron sputtering in a cleanroom environment. CILAS coordinates the TALOS European project on high-power laser directed energy weapons and is involved in the full product life cycle, from R&D to maintenance in operational condition. The company has three sites, in Orléans, Aubagne and Le Barp, and about 225 employees.
