Its defence and naval ultrasonic testing equipment supports non-invasive measurement, watertightness testing and fire suppression monitoring on naval vessels, submarines and commercial shipping. The company has worked for over three decades with the Royal Navy, Royal Fleet Auxiliary, US Navy, Royal Canadian Navy and Indian Navy. Its product ranges include Portalevel liquid level indicators, Portascanner watertight integrity testers, Portagas inert gas cylinder monitors and Portasonic flow meters. Products are also used in fire safety, power generation, oil and gas, and the built environment. The company exports to over 120 countries and is a twice Queen's Award for Enterprise winner. It operates through a Services Division offering engineering, research and training. The affiliated Durham Institute of Research, Development & Invention (DIRDI) conducts scientific research, including the Centre for Underwater Acoustic Analysis, which undertakes research for the Royal Navy.
