Dicronite, operated by Lubrication Sciences International, Inc., is a tungsten disulfide dry film lubricant coating service. The company applies a thin (0.5 micron or less) solid lubricant coating through a network of licensed application facilities in the United States, Mexico, Europe, India and South Korea. Originally developed for NASA, the coating is used in aerospace, aviation, military and other high-precision applications, including bearings for military helicopters, missiles and guided projectile actuators, as well as automotive, medical, food processing and plastic mold release uses. The company states that one facility is both ITAR registered and Nadcap certified, and that licensed facilities operate under AS9100, ISO 13485 and TS/ISO 16949 quality systems. The coating meets SAE-AMS2530 and was developed to replace DOD-L-85645A, which the Department of Defense cancelled.
