DREHTAINER GmbH develops and manufactures special containers and container structures for defence, nuclear technology and industry. The company was founded in Hamburg in 1974 as a container repair business and has developed and produced special containers for defence and nuclear applications since 1982. Its core defence business is protected mobile shelters and command post solutions for armed forces, with blast and ballistic protection, emission security and field camp infrastructure. Its modular container system can be coupled to form small units or complete buildings, with protection levels adjusted to customer requirements. The company has tested its products at military test facilities and in its own testing centre, and reports that its containers have protected soldiers from direct missile hits. Its civil business covers protected buildings for chemical plants and refineries, nuclear-related lifting equipment and shielding containers, and special transport containers. A Polish subsidiary, DREHTAINER Polska Sp. z o.o. in Zielona Góra, was founded in 2020 and took over the steel construction company LUBSTAL in 2021. It produces technologies developed by DREHTAINER GmbH and operates production halls of about 11,000 m².
