Fassmer is a family-owned German shipbuilding group headquartered in Berne-Motzen on the Weser River. Founded in 1850 as a boatbuilding business, it operates three business areas: Maritime, Defence and Composite, plus a global Service division. The Defence area designs and builds offshore patrol vessels, multipurpose patrol vessels and military boats for navies, coast guards and government agencies. Recent defence work includes a contract for four offshore patrol boats for the Republic of Singapore Navy, four training boat hulls for the German Navy, and three 86-metre patrol vessels for the German Federal Police. The group also builds special-purpose and research vessels, ferries, lifeboats and rescue boats, and GRP/CFRP composite components for wind power, automotive, leisure and industrial uses. Service activities cover maintenance, repair, refits and OEM spare parts for LSA equipment. Subsidiaries and joint ventures operate in Singapore, the United States, Poland, China and Taiwan. In 2026 the company signed a memorandum of understanding with DNV on autonomous naval vessels.
