IDIL is a French photonics engineering company founded in 1995 and based in Lannion, Brittany, at the heart of a photonics ecosystem. It designs, develops and manufactures fiber optic assemblies, components, fiber lasers, spectrometers, interrogators and a range of fiber sensors for science, defense and industry. Its work includes opto-pyrotechnic systems for launchers, thrusters, missiles and explosives, shock physics and laser-based velocimetry, and it has been an engineering partner to the CEA on the Megajoule Laser project since 1997. Defense applications account for about a third of the company's turnover. IDIL also produces educational fiber optic kits and photonics solutions for medical, cosmetics and civil engineering markets. It operates from a 2,300 m2 facility that houses its head office, R&D laboratories and production. The company is a subsidiary of Fiber Optics Group, a holding company formed in 2023 that also includes SEDI-ATI and FiberTech Optica.
