MBDA Deutschland GmbH is the German subsidiary of the European missile and air defence group MBDA, which is owned by Airbus, BAE Systems and Leonardo. It is described as the leading German system house for air defence, guided missiles and laser technology, and has operated for over 60 years. The company develops, produces and integrates air defence and guided missile systems and their subsystems, including warheads, propulsion, seekers, flight control and fire control systems. Its main sites are Schrobenhausen (headquarters), Aschau am Inn, Ulm and Freinhausen, with additional operations in Hermeskeil, where maintenance and calibration work is performed on the ROLAND air defence system and on SA-6 and SA-8 systems. Through its subsidiaries TDW Gesellschaft für verteidigungstechnische Wirksysteme mbH (warheads and initiation systems) and Bayern-Chemie Gesellschaft für flugchemische Antriebe mbH (propulsion and pyrotechnic components), it supplies armed forces. The Freinhausen site hosts a PATRIOT test and reference facility. Representative offices in Berlin, Bonn and Koblenz support German government and procurement contacts. The MBDA group reports over 90 armed forces using its products.
