SMS (Sistemas de Misiles de España S.L.) is a Spanish company focused on missile systems. It was formed in September 2021 as a collaboration of Sener Aeroespacial y Defensa, Escribano Mechanical and Engineering, GMV and, from February 2023, Instalaza. Its stated aims are to consolidate national technological and industrial capabilities in missile systems, support the Spanish Armed Forces across the weapon system life cycle, and act as a Spanish partner for international missile manufacturers. Activities include manufacturing systems and subsystems for missiles, integrated logistic support to the Spanish Army, Navy and Air Force logistics bodies, and national and international R&D. The company coordinates the EU-HYDEF consortium, co-financed by the European Defence Fund, which develops a European interceptor against hypersonic threats. It also collaborates with Kongsberg on missile systems, including NASAMS modernisation, and participates in the BEAST project coordinated by Diehl Defence. The company maintains a quality system that evaluates and reevaluates suppliers annually.
