Vojenský technický ústav, s.p. (VTÚ) is a Czech state enterprise established by the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic on 1 September 2012. It maintains and develops the country's strategic know-how in defence and security research and development, covering armament, ammunition, ground vehicles, unmanned aerial vehicles, aircraft on-board equipment, radiotechnical and airfield support equipment, simulators, communication systems, and associated testing, verification and certification. The institute performs applied research and development, prototype production, small-series and single-unit manufacturing, testing, modernisation, repair and service for the Czech Armed Forces, other security forces and the integrated rescue system, as well as for domestic and foreign customers. Its production is concentrated in three branches specialising in aviation and air defence, ground forces, and armament and ammunition. VTÚ also supplies mobile medical and field facilities, and operates accredited test laboratories (including EMC, electrical safety, seismic, climatic, ballistic and tribological testing) and a shooting range in Bzenec.
