About

African Platform on Access to Information Campaign is a non-profit network based in Kampala, Uganda working on human rights, democracy & civil society.

The African Platform on Access to Information (APAI) Campaign is a network of civil society organisations working to promote access to information across Africa. It was set up through a working group formed in 2009 and runs advocacy and lobbying to get access to information recognised as a fundamental human right. Its work includes promoting the APAI Declaration adopted in 2011, supporting national access to information laws and encouraging governments to implement them, and seeking recognition of 28 September as International Day for Universal Access to Information, which UNESCO adopted in 2015. The campaign is coordinated from a secretariat in Kampala, Uganda.
