Aktion & Familienkrebshilfe Sonnenherz is a German non-profit that provides financial support to people and families who have fallen into financial hardship because of cancer or other unforeseen misfortunes such as serious illness, accidents or other life events. Its work began in 2017 with a benefit-event concept for a family whose child had leukaemia and later expanded to support patients across Germany. In addition to the Familienkrebshilfe, the organisation runs the Aktion Sonnenherz for non-cancer hardship cases. It also operates Bücherherz.de, an online book shop that sends 25% of proceeds to the cause. The organisation is based in Mauern and opened a branch in Gunzenhausen. It states that donations are passed on in full to beneficiaries, with about 10% covering administration costs, and that it holds public-benefit status confirmed by a tax exemption notice.
