About

Founded in 1968, Aktionsgemeinschaft Dienst für den Frieden is a non-profit network based in Bonn, Germany working on peace & conflict, human rights, democracy & civil society.

The Aktionsgemeinschaft Dienst für den Frieden e.V. (AGDF) is a Bonn-based umbrella association of Christian and human rights-oriented peace organisations and initiatives in Germany. Founded in 1968 with roots in the Protestant churches, the ecumenical movement and the peace and human rights movements, it bundles the common interests of its members, represents them externally and strengthens networking among them. As a professional association for peace work and peace policy, it supports the ongoing training and development of civil, nonviolent conflict resolution. Its activities include coordinating international volunteer services and youth workcamps, promoting the civil peace service, running a training network with quality standards, supporting local peace work through its thematic department, and campaigning on issues such as disarmament, opposition to militarisation and the right to conscientious objection. The AGDF is a recognised non-profit body for tax purposes and is supported by church and state grants, collections, membership fees and donations. Its member organisations run their own programmes, while the Bonn office itself does not run programmes.
