Art into Acres
Fairfax, California, United States
About
Founded in 2017, Art into Acres is a non-governmental organisation based in Fairfax, United States working on nature & wildlife conservation, environment & climate, arts & culture.
Art into Acres is an artist-founded U.S. non-profit, founded in 2017 by Haley Mellin, that funds large-scale land conservation through the arts. Artists and collectors donate artworks, which are sold to fund the creation of new permanent protected areas, such as National Parks, Indigenous Protected Areas and wildlife corridors. Arts funding is typically matched by partner foundations, with non-profit, in-kind and government support adding to the total. Projects are locally requested, community- or Indigenous-led, and carried out with conservation non-profits and legal partners across Latin America, and also in Canada, India, Australia and the United States. The organisation also runs Strategic Climate Funds, which let galleries, museums and studios direct contributions to carbon-dense forest protection. It runs its own climate commitments, including reducing flights and emissions and joining the Gallery Climate Coalition. Based in Fairfax, California, it is registered as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organisation.
