About
Asociace občanských poraden is a non-profit network based in Praha 3, Czech Republic working on poverty & hunger, justice & legal aid, elderly care +1 more.
The Asociace občanských poraden (AOP) is a Czech association that serves as the umbrella and service centre for a network of citizen advice bureaus (občanské poradny) across the Czech Republic. Founded as the successor to an earlier association formed in 1997, it provides methodological, training and information services to its members, ensures quality control of advice, and runs a unified training system for advisers. Member bureaus provide free, independent, non-partisan social counselling on 20 topics, including debt, social benefits, housing, employment and family law, and AOP itself does not give advice directly to the public. The association runs projects on debt counselling, financial literacy, support for seniors and war veterans, and consumer protection, and it represents member bureaus in dealings with government bodies. Its network covers around 98 locations across the Czech Republic, including branches and contact points. The association also runs a supporter club and accepts donations and regular monthly contributions.
