About
Founded in 1990, Bajtársi Egyesületek Országos Szövetsége is a non-profit network based in Budapest, Hungary working on community development.
The Bajtársi Egyesületek Országos Szövetsége (BEOSZ) is a Hungarian national umbrella association of veterans' and retired soldiers' associations. It was founded in 1990 by 18 comrade associations and is based in Budapest. Its member organisations are mainly retired soldiers and military pensioners, though it is open to members of other armed and civilian bodies. The federation supports national defence, preserves Hungarian military traditions, represents members' interests, and promotes social solidarity. Member associations provide mutual support to ill or needy members, such as shopping, cleaning and visits, and help families of soldiers on missions. The federation also runs cultural activities, including choirs, and aims to introduce defence topics to young people through education. It is a politically neutral civil organisation with public-benefit status, and it operates through regional structures across Hungary.
