The Békefenntartók Bajtársi Egyesülete (BBE) is a Hungarian public-benefit association founded in 2007 by former members of the Hungarian Defence Forces, police and border guard who served in peacekeeping missions. It researches peacekeeping issues and issues recommendations, promotes the principles of peacekeeping through education and public lectures in Hungary, and organises commemorations such as the Peacekeepers' Day events and memorial wreath-laying ceremonies. It provides social support to retired peacekeepers in difficult circumstances, keeps alive the memory of comrades who died on missions, and cooperates with the Ministry of Defence, the armed forces, law enforcement bodies and other organisations. It also maintains international contacts, including with the Austrian Peacekeepers' Association. The association states that it is public-benefit, operates independently of political parties and does not give them financial support. Its office is in Budapest.
