The Bermuda Arts Centre at Dockyard (BACD) is a registered charity established in 1984 by a group of local artists. It aims to promote appreciation and understanding of the visual arts and crafts in Bermuda through exhibitions, workshops and education. The centre gives local artists a venue to showcase and develop their work, and gives residents and visitors a place to see Bermudian artists and craftsmen at work. Three studio artists work on site, working in oil painting, watercolour, textiles and jewellery making. The centre runs a print gallery and gift shop selling original artwork and one-of-a-kind gifts, holds monthly shows and themed group exhibitions, and runs regular workshops and classes. Its annual exhibitions include the Small Works Open and the Sergeant Award for nautical art. The centre relies on art sales, membership dues and donations. Admission is free and the building is wheelchair accessible.
