BHAAAS is a voluntary, non-partisan, multi-ethnic academy founded in Charlotte, North Carolina, in 2007. Its purposes are educational, scientific and charitable. It connects Bosnian-Herzegovinian scientists, artists and professionals in the diaspora with academic and professional institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the wider region, aiming to develop and advance the arts and sciences. Its activities include the annual Days of BHAAAS conference in Sarajevo, a knowledge transfer programme bringing diaspora experts to lecture in BiH, the Znanjem do zdravlja health information platform, student mentorship and internships, and an initiative on integrating artificial intelligence across its work. Members and the wider public in Bosnia and Herzegovina are the main groups served.
