BIENALSUR

BIENALSUR is a non-profit organisation based in Buenos Aires, Argentina working on arts & culture.

BIENALSUR is a non-commercial, decentralised contemporary art, culture and thought biennial driven from the Universidad Nacional de Tres de Febrero (UNTREF) in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It operates as a transnational network of around 130 venues in 76 cities across 34 countries, with its starting point at the Km 0 site at the MUNTREF Hotel de Inmigrantes in Buenos Aires. Launched in 2015 from a series of Sur Global meetings, it has run editions in 2017, 2019, 2021 and 2025. Its methodology relies on open, international calls without preset themes, from which curatorial routes emerge. The biennial presents exhibitions, public programming and dialogue, and aims to promote the right to culture and diversity and new models of artistic circulation at local and global scale. It has UNESCO General Patronage since 2019 and is led by a general director, an artistic director and an International Curatorial Council.
