About
Bundesverband Jugend und Film is a non-profit association based in Frankfurt am Main, Germany working on arts & culture, education, children & youth.
The Bundesverband Jugend und Film e.V. (BJF) is the central organisation for film education and film culture for children and young people in Germany. Its roots lie in the Allied re-education programme after the Second World War and in the association of German film clubs. Since 1970 it has worked as an independent organisation for the film interests of children and young people, promoting film education, creativity, communication, cultural participation and media literacy. It is a registered non-profit association based in Frankfurt am Main, recognised as charitable for the promotion of education and public enlightenment. Its members include cultural centres, schools, youth film clubs, youth organisations, adult education centres and educators. The BJF runs a non-commercial film distribution library (the BJF-Clubfilmothek), the Durchblick and Weitblick film editions, the Junge Filmszene network for young filmmakers, the Movies in Motion project, youth film juries, and seminars and conferences for youth and cultural workers, roughly 50 per year. It also represents members' interests towards authorities and other organisations at home and abroad, and is funded in part by the Federal Ministry for Education, Family, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth. Operations are concentrated in Germany.
