About

Founded in 1956, Casa de los Amigos is a non-profit association based in Ciudad de México, Mexico working on peace & conflict, refugees & migration, poverty & hunger +1 more.

Casa de los Amigos is a Quaker Center for Peace and International Understanding in Mexico City, founded in 1956 as a non-profit association by the Friends community. It runs peace and social justice programmes, a guest house offering solidarity accommodation for migrants, refugees and asylum seekers, a community centre, and a volunteer programme. It also supports Mexican cooperatives and productive projects working against poverty and for economic justice. The organisation describes itself as the oldest peace and social justice organisation in Mexico. The Casa was donated by the family of painter José Clemente Orozco. In recent years, the Assembly has reported a legal dispute over the building's administration and governance, which it says has affected the security and integrity of programmes in the historic building.
