CBIDO (Community Based Inclusive Development Organization, also known as Karagwe Disabilities) is a pro-disability non-governmental organisation based in Kayanga, Kagera Region, Tanzania. It works for persons with disabilities, focusing on those under 25, through disability prevention, comprehensive healthcare, inclusive education, and socio-economic empowerment of persons with disabilities and their caregivers and communities. Its main approach is community-based rehabilitation, which it describes as low-cost and high-impact. Activities include awareness-raising through radio and community outreach, early identification, referral to medical care, assistive device provision, inclusive education support, vocational training, capacity building for staff, families and stakeholders, and advocacy for inclusion and improved conditions for children and youth with disabilities. CBIDO has been implementing its programmes since January 2019 and reports working for over 20 years in total.
