About

Founded in 2019, CircusDanceFestival is a non-profit organisation based in Köln, Germany working on arts & culture, mental health.

CircusDanceFestival is a non-profit cultural festival based in Cologne, Germany, presenting contemporary circus, dance and performance. Initiated in 2019 as a TANZPAKT project by the Cologne company Overhead Project, the festival takes place each year over Pentecost on the grounds of the LATIBUL Theatre and Circus Education Centre in Köln-Riehl and the adjoining Rhine meadows, largely free of charge and open to the public. Beyond the programme of performances, the festival runs campus projects in research, exchange, emerging talent and theory, publishes the VOICES magazine, and operates the CDFthek online media library. It also runs an awareness team and a programme on mental health within the circus sector through the European Take Care project. The festival positions itself as a platform for contemporary circus within the performing arts in Germany and organises an annual focus on a partner country.
