Founded in 1967, Društvo za zaščito živali Maribor is a non-profit association based in Maribor, Slovenia working on animal welfare.

Društvo za zaščito živali Maribor is a voluntary, independent and non-profit association founded in 1967 in Maribor, Slovenia. It works for the protection of all kinds of animals, protecting them from neglect, abuse and cruelty and promoting responsible and compassionate treatment of animals. Its activities include rescuing and caring for abandoned and injured animals, finding them new homes, subsidised cat sterilisation and neutering, public education, and advocacy for better animal protection laws. The association operates mainly in north-eastern Slovenia, is supported by around 500 members and volunteers, and is funded largely by individual donations, membership fees and income tax donations. It has operated in the public interest since the mid-1990s and established the first animal shelter in Slovenia and the former Yugoslavia in 1988.
