About
Founded in 2008, Društvo Zverinice is a non-profit association based in Ljubljana, Slovenia working on animal welfare.
Zverinice is a Slovenian voluntary, non-profit association of ferret enthusiasts, founded at the end of 2008 and granted public-interest status for animal protection in 2012, renewed in 2019. It works to improve the welfare of pet white ferrets in Slovenia by raising public awareness and providing education about their needs, correct care and responsible ownership, with the aim of preventing irresponsible treatment of animals. The association offers help to ferret owners, cooperates with professional bodies and similar organisations in Slovenia and abroad, and seeks to assist as many animals in need as possible. It also runs social events for members and the public. Membership is open to anyone who wishes to take part in its activities or to support its work as a supporting member. Activities are financed through membership fees, voluntary contributions, donations, the allocation of 1% of income tax, and its own commercial activity. Based in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
