Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team

Founded in 1984, Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team is a charity based in Roundwood, Ireland.

Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team is a volunteer emergency rescue service based in Roundwood, County Wicklow, Ireland. It operates around the clock to respond to people who are lost, injured or in danger in upland and remote areas of Dublin, Wicklow and Louth. Its work includes searching for missing persons, severe weather response and body recovery from remote locations. The team works on behalf of An Garda Síochána and is one of eleven teams in Mountain Rescue Ireland, also assisting colleague teams across the island when requested. It works alongside the National Ambulance Service, the Irish Coast Guard, the Irish Defence Forces, fire services, Civil Defence and other voluntary emergency services. Its members are trained in navigation, search management, pre-hospital emergency medicine, helicopter operations, crag and rope rescue, and swiftwater rescue. The team is part-funded by the Irish government and relies on donations, grants and fundraising events, including the Art O'Neill Challenge, Walk the Line and Run the Line, to meet its operating costs and to build a permanent base.
