Effective Aid Ukraine is an Irish and Ukrainian registered NGO and Irish charity working to improve the lives of children and adults with disabilities in Ukraine, particularly those living in institutional settings. It works with regional authorities and local NGOs in Ukraine, partnering with institutions in Eastern Europe since 1998 to support disadvantaged children and adults. Since the full-scale invasion in February 2022, it has also assisted Ukrainian refugees, mainly women and children, relocating from frontline cities to Ireland, providing transport, accommodation and resettlement support. Its current partners include the Lviv Regional Council and Without Limits, a Ukrainian foundation. Its work focuses on helping Ukraine move from Soviet-style institutional care to EU-aligned community-based care, with particular emphasis on independent living for people with disabilities.
