Evolve California
San Francisco, CA, United States
About
Founded in 2011, Evolve California is a non-governmental organisation based in San Francisco, United States working on education, democracy & civil society.
Evolve California is a grassroots nonprofit based in the San Francisco Bay Area, California. It works to fully fund California's public schools and to reform Proposition 13, which it presents as a root cause of underfunded public education. Its work is guided by commitments to equality, equity and empowering local communities. The organisation builds a grassroots movement by working with coalition partners, teacher and labor unions, community-based organisations and community activists. Its activities include voter education, door knocking and street canvassing, attending rallies, protests and board meetings, and holding information sessions in college classrooms. It also runs an internship programme that trains students and young people as advocates and mentors the next generation of activists. The organisation was co-founded in 2011 and has supported campaigns such as the 2020 Schools & Communities First ballot measure, as well as efforts to close the corporate tax loophole and to address education funding, mental health services in schools and transportation access for students.
