About

Founded in 1994, Fido Bácsi Közhasznú Alapítvány is a foundation based in Kiskunfélegyháza, Hungary working on animal welfare.

The Fido Bácsi Közhasznú Alapítvány is a Hungarian public-benefit foundation founded in 1994 for animal welfare. It runs a dog shelter in Kiskunfélegyháza and its surroundings, providing temporary housing, care and rehoming for stray dogs. Since 2014 it has also operated the local municipal dog pound, taking in and caring for captured animals and reuniting microchipped dogs with their owners where possible. The shelter does not euthanise healthy dogs; animals are treated, neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and tested for heartworm before adoption. The foundation funds its work mainly through donations of money and goods, and runs educational events on responsible pet ownership, including an annual open day for families. Its German partner, Projekt-Pusztahunde e.V., has supported it since 2012 with donations and funding for veterinary costs and dog food.
