First Step Cambodia is a non-governmental organisation based in Phnom Penh that works to protect children from sexual abuse in Cambodia. It focuses on boys who are survivors of sexual abuse and on children displaying sexually harmful behaviours, while also supporting their families and communities. Its work spans direct therapeutic and social work support, training for social service professionals, awareness-raising in schools and communities, evidence-based research on child sexual abuse, and advocacy for stronger child protection systems and policies at global, national and subnational levels. The organisation also works with children with disabilities and with LGBTIQ individuals to address stigma and taboos. Donations are accepted directly and through the Giving Way platform, and Swiss donors can give via its partner association Basmati.
