Fondacija Lara

Fondacija Lara, formerly the women's NGO Organizacija žena Lara, works in Bijeljina, Bosnia and Herzegovina, to protect women from all forms of gender-based violence and to empower women for political and public life. It has operated since 1998 and was registered as a foundation in February 2014. Its work includes running a safe house for women and children who have survived domestic violence, a volunteer SOS helpline, legal and psychosocial support for survivors, and education and information for women on rights, labour and employment. It also builds the capacity of service providers, campaigns for better laws and policies on violence against women, and runs peace and reconciliation initiatives.
