Frauen helfen Frauen e.V. is a counselling association based in Wiesbaden, Germany, founded in 1977 by women from the Frauenzentrum Wiesbaden. It works to prevent, avoid and end violence against women. Its counselling centre, operating since 1985, supports women affected by domestic violence, partner violence and stalking, as well as their relatives and professionals. Support is confidential, free of charge and can be anonymous, and includes information on protection orders under the Gewaltschutzgesetz, separation, divorce, custody, maintenance, housing and dealings with police and authorities. Accompaniment to police or court is offered in individual cases. The association runs group sessions, weekend seminars and a meeting group for women after separation, and holds lectures on family and legal topics. It also organises events for One Billion Rising, International Women's Day and the International Day against Violence against Women. The association takes part in local and state networks on domestic violence and women's policy and is a pilot project for implementing the Istanbul Convention in Wiesbaden. Its main funding comes from the City of Wiesbaden, supplemented by membership fees, donations and fines allocated to it. Donations are tax-deductible because the association is recognised as charitable.
