FrauenZimmer is a counselling centre in Freiburg, Germany, run by the association FrauenZimmer e.V. It provides addiction counselling, prevention work, outpatient rehabilitation and aftercare, and self-help and support groups exclusively for women and girls who are at risk of or affected by addiction or eating disorders, as well as for women who are close to people with addiction. The association was founded in 1995 and opened the counselling centre in 1996. Its work is based on feminist principles and is organised entirely by women. The service also runs teacher and specialist training, political advocacy for women-specific addiction care, and is part of the Basler 8 network of five feminist facilities for women and girls. It serves Freiburg city and the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district. The centre is partly funded by public money but relies on donations and membership fees. The association is recognised as charitable and can issue donation receipts.
