Gente Organizada is a community-led social action non-profit based in Pomona, California. It organizes to build intergenerational power and wellness for youth and immigrant families in the city. Its work is grounded in community organizing and healing-centred engagement, and it centres BIPOC youth aged 12 to 26, especially children of immigrant families and LGBTQIA young people. Its activities include social action groups for youth, six organizational pods covering areas such as youth organizing, economic justice, narrative change and healing justice, and coalitions on issues including police and institutional accountability, school policy, immigrant justice, tenant rights and food security. The organisation is governed by a youth- and parent-led Board of Directors and a shared leadership Directors Council rather than an executive director. It has operated since 2014, when a group of immigrant mothers organised in a local park in South Pomona. Its work focuses on Pomona, a largely Spanish-speaking, economically disadvantaged city in East Los Angeles County.
