Global Village Housing

Founded in 2009, Global Village Housing is a non-governmental organisation based in Phnom Penh, Cambodia working on housing & homelessness, community development, water & sanitation.

Global Village Housing is a registered NGO in Cambodia, founded in 2009 by Australian Jason Thatcher. It designs, manufactures and gifts low-cost steel-framed homes to impoverished families in remote villages and garbage-dump settlements, primarily in Cambodia's Prey Veng Province and across 15 provinces. Homes are pre-built at a factory on the outskirts of Phnom Penh, transported as flat packs and assembled on site with help from village communities. Each home includes rainwater collection, solar lighting and a lockable, insulated design. The organisation also supports village schools, clean water wells, toilet blocks and bicycles for children and families. Administration costs are covered by the founder, so donations go entirely to construction. Local staff are employed and trained, and families sign agreements that prevent homes from being sold, rented or used as loan collateral. The organisation maintains a child protection policy aligned with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
