Háttér Társaság is one of Hungary's oldest and most active LGBTQ civil organisations, founded in 1995. It works for the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and intersex people and for reducing prejudice and promoting social integration. Its services in Budapest and across Hungary include free legal aid, an information and emotional support line, HIV counselling and prevention, and personal support. It also lobbies on anti-discrimination legislation, runs training for LGBTQI people and professionals, conducts research on social exclusion, maintains an LGBTQI archive and library, and takes part in organising Budapest Pride. It accepts reports of discrimination, harassment and hate incidents.
