Human & Hope is an Australian registered charity founded in 2013 by Sally Hetherington to raise funds for Human and Hope Association Cambodia (HHA Cambodia), a locally registered community centre in rural Siem Reap. The charity supports locally led education, vocational training and community development programmes that aim to help families move out of poverty. It takes a locally driven approach to development, does not accept foreign volunteers at HHA Cambodia, and advocates against voluntourism and child sponsorship. HHA Cambodia's programmes focus on the Svay Dangkum, Sambour, Krobei Riel, Pouk and Reul communes in Siem Reap and are implemented by local staff. The charity reports that HHA Cambodia raises at least 35% of its income through sustainable methods, including a sewing business and farm, and that HHA Cambodia is registered with the Cambodian Ministry of Interior.
