Initiatives pour l'Avenir des Grands Fleuves (IAGF, also IAGF-IFGR) is an international non-governmental organisation based in Lyon, France, working for the sustainable future of rivers worldwide. Founded in 2015 by Erik Orsenna and the Compagnie Nationale du Rhône (CNR) ahead of COP 21, it brings together river stakeholders, scientists and experts into a multidisciplinary international platform. It aims to alert decision-makers, promote the place of rivers in national and international public policy, encourage cooperation among stakeholders, and propose actions to protect water resources. Its work spans hydrology, ecology, water governance, and social and educational topics, supported by a scientific and technical committee that provides expert advice. It runs educational and awareness activities for schools and the public, publishes a magazine and expert articles, organises webinars, and runs the Living with Rivers label for territorial projects.
