Irish Penal Reform Trust
Dublin, Ireland
About
Founded in 1994, Irish Penal Reform Trust is a non-governmental organisation based in Dublin, Ireland working on justice & legal aid, human rights, children & youth.
The Irish Penal Reform Trust (IPRT) is an independent charity and non-governmental organisation founded in 1994 by citizens concerned about human rights abuses in Irish prisons. Based in Dublin, it campaigns for respect for the rights of people in prison, for imprisonment to be used only as a last resort, and for progressive reform of Irish penal policy. Its work combines research, policy publications, campaigning and direct advocacy with government and other agencies in the criminal justice system. IPRT does not provide individual casework or support to individual prisoners or their families. It is governed by a voluntary board of directors and relies on donations, charitable trusts, government funding and membership subscriptions.
