About
Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden is a non-governmental organisation based in Tai Po, Hong Kong working on nature & wildlife conservation, environment & climate, education.
Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden (KFBG) is a non-profit conservation and education centre on the northern slopes of Tai Mo Shan in Hong Kong's New Territories. It originated in 1951/1956 as the Kadoorie Agricultural Aid Association, founded by brothers Lawrence and Horace Kadoorie to help impoverished refugees arriving in Hong Kong after the Second World War through livestock, seeds, fertilisers and interest-free loans, under the philosophy of helping people help themselves. The association evolved in 1995 into KFBG, incorporated as a non-profit and designated a conservation and education centre. Its three core programmes focus on nature conservation, holistic education and sustainable living, aiming to harmonise humanity's relationship with nature. The site includes streams, woodlands and gardens, and it runs talks, workshops, retreats, exhibitions and volunteer-supported visitor activities. In 2026 it marks its 70th anniversary with the Awakening of Memory programme.
