The Kovács István Alapítvány is a foundation based in Budapest that supports talented young people in Érd, Hungary. It was established in 2016 by the grandchildren of István Kovács, a longtime Érd resident. The foundation provides scholarships to outstanding secondary school students and to under-23 kayak-canoe athletes who have won national titles or placed on the podium at international competitions. Applicants may receive up to HUF 250,000 for studies or athletic training. The foundation holds annual award ceremonies and has supported more than 200 young people since 2016. It is funded in part through the Hungarian personal income tax 1% designation.
