About
Founded in 1968, KVHS Plön is a non-profit association based in Plön, Germany working on education, community development.
The Kreisvolkshochschule Plön (KVHS Plön) is the association Verbund der Volkshochschulen im Kreis Plön e.V., founded in 1968 by the rural Volkshochschulen of the Plön district in Schleswig-Holstein. Its members are eleven local Volkshochschulen, the akademie am see Koppelsberg and the Kreis Plön. The association is recognised as charitable (gemeinnützig) and works as a state-recognised provider of adult and continuing education. It offers courses in languages, creative arts, crafts, health, sport, IT, and cultural excursions, and it runs integration courses and a Bildungsfreistellung programme. The KVHS also acts as a service provider for its member Volkshochschulen and supports them in maintaining a broad, affordable and forward-looking education offer across the district. Its office is in Plön. The Kreis Plön largely finances the association, and the State of Schleswig-Holstein also provides funding. Course fees are payable, with reductions for pupils, apprentices, students and people receiving benefits.
