The LBV (Landesbund für Vogel- und Naturschutz in Bayern e.V.) is a non-profit nature conservation association in Bavaria, founded in 1909 and described as the state's oldest nature conservation association. It works on species and habitat protection, biotope acquisition and management, climate protection, nature education and education for sustainable development, and advocacy towards politicians, business and authorities. Its activities include a bird rescue and rehabilitation station in Regenstauf, species protection programmes, bird monitoring with volunteers, and a network of environmental education stations across Bavaria. The LBV owns and manages protected areas totalling over 3,700 hectares, funded largely by donations, memberships and sponsorships. It is a partner of the national association NABU and works in Germany, Europe and, through projects, in Burkina Faso.
