Lernen dürfen

Founded in 2009, Lernen dürfen is a non-governmental organisation based in Eppstein, Germany working on education, water & sanitation, community development.

Lernen dürfen e. V. is a recognised German non-profit association that builds schools in the remote south-east of Burkina Faso together with local communities and its partner organisation UNTAANI. Founded in 2009 in Eppstein, Germany, it has financed primary schools, a middle school, a lycée with upper secondary grades, teachers' houses, bridges, sports fields, kitchens and wells with school gardens. The association funds building materials, while UNTAANI manages the projects locally. It is also recognised as an NGO in Burkina Faso under the name A.C.A. since 2011. Its stated goal is to give all children in the Tapoa province access to schooling. Projects are partly co-financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The association is supported by private donations and runs fundraising campaigns, including an advent calendar and an ambassador project with footballer Edmond Tapsoba.
