Live Music Now Wien

Founded in 1996, Live Music Now Wien is a charity based in Wien, Austria working on arts & culture, health, refugees & migration.

Live Music Now Wien is the Austrian branch of the Live Music Now network, founded in England in 1977 by Yehudi Menuhin. Based in Vienna, it places young professional musicians selected by an expert jury in social institutions such as hospitals, hospices, care homes, children's homes, prisons and shelters, bringing live music to people who cannot attend concerts. It also runs Unisono, a project offering free instrumental and vocal lessons to refugees and disadvantaged people in cooperation with Viennese music universities. The organisation is run by volunteers and funded entirely by donations and corporate sponsors. Its work started in Vienna in 1996/1997 and has since expanded to other Austrian regions. Concerts are held regularly, with more than 5,500 performed in social institutions to date.
