The Magyar Hospice Alapítvány is a public-benefit foundation based in Budapest, Hungary, that has provided hospice and palliative care since 1991. It delivers free, individually tailored care for patients with incurable cancer who are no longer receiving active treatment. Services include home-based nursing delivered with the family physician, symptom and pain management, and psychological, social and spiritual support for patients and relatives. The foundation runs the 10-bed Budapest Hospice Ház, a pain clinic, a grief support group, and a children's home-care service. It also provides free loan of medical aids, educational films and caregiver training, and offers training courses for professionals and volunteers. Its work is funded mainly by individual donations, including designations of the personal income tax 1% (SZJA 1%), and corporate partners. Its activities are open to the public, and it publishes its annual reports and complaint-handling reports.
